About Otago Knitwear

Otago Knitwear is recognized as one of New Zealands leading knitwear manufacturers.

The company was set up in 1999 after taking over the former company Otago Garment Knitters and now employ’s 17 people to manufacture an extensive product range of knitwear.

Everything is done right here in Dunedin, from design to the finished product.

All fabrics are knitted on site with some of the industries most technically advanced computorised knitting machinery. Otago Knitwear use only high quality raw materials including 100% Fine Merino wool, Merino Possum and other requested yarn types to produce a diverse range of knitted fabrics. We then have a team of highly skilled machinist’s that turn the knitted fabric into high quality garments.

Over the last 12 years Otago Knitwear has managed to achieve good growth in the business while competing in a market that is increasingly supplied with imported products. Our focus has always been to offer the very best quality in all our products.


Manufacturing and Embroidery services are available to Retailers, Designers, and Wholesalers. These include; contract bulk knitting/makeup of garments/fabrics, the supply of garments from our extensive product ranges and a complete embroidery service.
